The New Year is just around the corner.

With all the turkeys, cookies, cakes, eggnogs, and other holiday delicacies we have been consuming for the past days, this time, we must choose some healthier resolutions!

This is precisely why we have put our brains together and made a list of the top ten healthiest resolutions that you must promise yourself this new year.

#1 Getting Adequate Sleep

We know we know, thanks to your busy schedule, you don’t have enough time to have a healthy sleep cycle. But trust us on this.

While power naps are helpful, they are not a permanent solution. If you manage to get 7-9 hours of healthy sleep, you will immediately notice a positive difference in your efficiency and energy levels.

#2 Avoiding Alcohol Intake And Smoking

Regular consumption of alcohol and smoking can result in chronic diseases as deadly as cancer.

Apart from that, it also accelerates the aging process, proves to have a negative impact on your learning capabilities, and can even make your bones fragile.

#3 Reducing Sugar Consumption

Excess sugar consumption can lead to many repercussions. Some of them being an increased risk of diabetes, heart problems, and weight gain.

If you already have a sweet tooth, try swapping your desserts with natural sugars like fruits with whipped cream or yogurt.

#4 Indulging In Self Care

This time, learn how to put yourself first. Take some time out and understand your mind and body. This activity will help you in many ways –

  • Relieve stress.
  • Teach you how to be more resilient towards challenges.
  • It will help you set boundaries and limits.
  • Your decision-making ability will become more powerful.

#5 Do Not Skip Breakfast

Breakfast is one of the most important meals of our day. After staying hungry for 7-9 hours, your body needs refueling.

People who have breakfast every day show signs of –

  • Stronger metabolism
  • Higher concentration
  • Lower cholesterol
  • More positivity
  • Higher energy

For even better results, try including these five daily foods for a healthier mind.

#6 Maintaining a Food Journal

Having a food journal is an excellent way of staying on track!

When we keep a check of everything that is going inside us, we become more conscious. You will start noticing how slowly and steadily, instead of reaching out to a packet of chips, you will begin to snacking on fruits or vegetables like carrots and celery sticks.

#7 Exercising Regularly

This has to be a no-brainer!

We are not asking you to join a gym or something with commitment. A simple 30-minute workout will work its magic.

Exercise is not just for keeping us in shape. When we workout, it improves our blood circulation, boosts our oxygen levels, helps with metabolism, and performs a detox on our body.

#8 Unplugging Yourself

It is not just about your eyes.

Taking a break from technology can benefit you both physically and mentally.

Usually, while using our phones or laptops, we are in a stationary position. Having no movement for long periods is terrible for our physical health.

It also makes us lose our emotional touch with those around us. Excessive screen time can even lead to complications like depression and anxiety.

#9 Practice Yoga

It may sound a little old school, but practicing yoga can do wonders for us.

The breathing exercises promote healthy respiration, relaxation, and increase our metabolism. They also strengthen our core and induce flexibility.

#10 Maintaining a Positive Mindset

This past year has taken a toll on all of us. But if we did learn something from it is how to face challenges and how important it is to take care of our mental health.

Maintaining a positive attitude will give you the strength to deal with minor setbacks and stay on track with your fitness and health goals.

We hope these resolutions help you achieve your fitness targets. Happy New Year!
